The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of ATTITUDE on life. Attitude, to me is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a school, a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you, we are in charge of our ATTITUDE.
INSTINCTS. How many times you feel “I can do this” or you are overthinking? Overthinking things can create obstacles that weren’t even a problem in the first place. Maybe you’ve spent time and effort preparing for an interview, important play or a big game and you are as ready as can be until it comes time for you to actually perform. And you end up doing subpar because your mind goes into overdrive with all the negative possibilities. No matter how talented a person is, they could still choke when they have to perform and it usually comes from their own mind psyching them out thinking too much instead of acting on instinct.
If whatever you’re doing comes naturally to you, using your heart instead of your head is the way to go. Find some way to distract your mind, calm your thoughts and let your instincts take over.
