Keep the honest moments close to your heart.

When you laugh until your ribs ache with your friends, when you feel stars exploding inside of you from falling in love, when life breaks you open and those tears of transformation pour like a river from your soul.
Life is really quite simple.
We get to experience this planet for a brief while.
We get to learn how to love ourselves and one another for the strange, messy, and magical creatures we are.
What a gift it is to have a human life.

If you look a little closer, there is always something to be grateful for.
True GRATITUDE isn’t ignoring the darkness.
It’s participating with your whole heart in whatever moment life brings.
It’s leaning into the unfolding process and having the courage to not need all of the answers.

It must consist of a particular amount of hours in light and some in darkness.
Similarly, your life must go through it’s own sunrises and sunsets, its own periods of light and darkness.
As we see in nature, in some seasons, the darkness will far outweigh the light, and in others the light will predominate the darkness.
Have faith in your life and it’s seasons, and know that just like the periods of light will not permanently prevail, neither will the periods of darkness.

There are people who notice you only when you shine,
or when you fall into the darkness.
Not the average you.
Not the mediocre you.
But the great you, or the not-so-great you.
The people who are worthiest of your care are not those who only notice you at your best and worst but those who are with you at all times.
They don’t need an excuse to love you.
They don’t need an excuse to talk to you,
or to ask you how you’re doing!!
They don’t need an excuse to share their happiness with you.
They don’t need an explanation.
They give you one without you asking for it.
They assume the good in you before the bad.

So keep eyes open just so you don’t miss those people.
Such equations take long long time & trust to develop.
Once you find them, never let them go because those are not just friends but family members.
They’re life companions.
They are the people who will tell you when you are wrong simply because they’ve allowed themselves to tie their well-being to yours. (Not my words).

Life will always be filled with ups and downs.
It’s the law of nature.
Yin and yang, light and dark.
It’s the nature of life and it’s okay.
We must embrace the duality inherent within life.
Without night, there is no day.
Without male, there is no female.
Without black, there is no white.
Without negative, there is no positive.

Spending your life trying to make every thing be light only creates suffering.
Spending your energy to only hold on to light is not freedom.
We must learn to embrace the darkness, and in doing so, we transform ourselves.
In accepting the nature of life, we accept what is and what isn’t and experience freedom.
Life will always have expansion and contraction.
When you stop seeking for perfection outside in the constantly changing world and realize that inside you is the ultimate perfection, that your soul is perfect beyond duality, beyond good or bad-when you understand that, you are free.
Truly free.
You see that life is perfect even in its seeming imperfection.
Peace is an inside job.
Don’t look for peace in the world because you won’t find.
You can’t truly be free until you deal with the duality of life, to come into a harmonious relationship with what it is.
Learn to dance with the reality of life.
