If you feel like others aren’t treating you with respect, check your price tag. Maybe you subconsciously marked yourself down. Because it’s YOU who tells others what you’re worth by showing them what you’re willing to accept for your time and attention. Get off the clearance rack!
I saw a post today that said, “When you finally learn your place in peoples lives, your feelings won’t get hurt. And loyalty doesn’t mean accepting unlimited amounts of inconsistency & pain from others”.
Whether it’s friends, family or whoever. I swear that’s the truth and one of the most important life lessons you’ll learn.
If you’re feeling down, ask yourself “what’s wrong with this moment?” Chances are that you’re upset about something that happened in the past or you’re anticipating something that might happen in the future. But is there anything wrong with this exact moment? Probably not. So stop worrying. And if there is something wrong with this exact moment, there’s only 3 things you can do to fix it: REMOVE yourself from the situation, CHANGE something, or ACCEPT it.

DON’T COMPARE YOUR actual self to a hypothetical self. Don’t drown in a sea of ‘what if’s. Don’t clutter your mind by imagining other versions of you, in parallel universes, where you made different decisions. The internet age encourages choice and comparison, but don’t do this to yourself. Theodore Roosevelt said; “Comparison is the thief of joy”.
You are you. The past is the past. The only way to make a better life is from inside the present. To focus on regret does nothing but turn that very present into another thing you will wish you did differently.
Accept your own reality. Be human enough to make mistakes. Be human enough not to dread the future. Be human enough to be, well, enough. Accepting where you are in life makes it so much easier to be happy for other people without feeling terrible about yourself. BE YOU.
To work on yourself is the best thing you can do. Accept that you are not perfect, but you are enough. And then start working on everything that destroys you. Your insecurities, your ego, your dark thoughts. You will see, in the end you’re going to make peace with yourself. And that’s the greatest thing in the world.
You might not love all aspects of yourself right now but you can learn to accept it. Accept your flaws. Accept the positives and negative aspects of your story. Accept the parts of you that are deemed unacceptable by society. Self acceptance is the starting point to attain self love.
It’s the little things in life. It’s the people who don’t just text you, but take the time out of their day to put you in their schedule; no matter how busy they are. It’s the friends that are authentic and don’t fake what they feel. The people who are straight with you and accept you for who you are; down to the raw scars and burns. It’s the pure feeling of happiness while driving your AMG when you’re listening to music with people you love and there is absolutely no where else in the entire world you would rather be. It’s the feeling like we’ll live forever, like we’re young forever. It’s the love that soothes our heart which makes life feel happy to die for. It’s the love that breaks our hearts but knowing the feeling of pain and feeling the pain, but getting through the pain; only to be grateful for the feel of life, the feel of living.
Moments and little things, acts that make every breathe so incredibly amazing. That’s what I live for; these moments that make us feel infinite. Life is fun. Let it be.
You have to chase the things that ignite you. You have to do the things that bring you joy. You have to surround yourself with the people who bring you back home to yourself, with the people who respect you and embrace you in ways that make you feel like you are worthy and accepted and celebrated and loved. You have do the work to heal yourself, even when it hurts especially when it hurts, so that you do not continue to approach your life within the boundary of what is heavy within you. You have to put yourself out there, and you cannot worry about what other people think, you cannot rob yourself of experience or happiness or inspiration because you are scared of how you will be perceived. You have to be unapologetic in the way that you exist here. You have to believe that your ideas, and your hope, and your being, deserve to take up space. You have to believe that you have purpose.
Because our existence is finite. And as hard as that is to understand, as hard as that can be to connect with, from time to time remind yourself that in the most human way we are all living on borrowed time. We live as if we are promised the experiences and the potential we are chasing, we live as if we have control over what happens to us. But we don’t, and that is liberating, because it is pressing there is urgency within the lesson. It is meant to wake you up. Life is meant to be lived. (Not my words).
Mama once said; “We don’t just entertain friends/relationships outta fun, we build them over time, we respect them & we keep them. That’s why never accept or serve discounted garbage”.
I was in my teen days. I was still getting pocket money from parents. I wasn’t able to understand those heavy/right words. I thought my mum was talking about not buying discounted clothes/stuffs or wasting money with friends during weekend trips. Most of my friends know i hate discounted clothes now too. In fact, i don’t have a single piece of clothing from any fast fashion brands.
Coming closer to my 30, now i am understanding that she told me not to hangout with people who have discounted/cheap personality/approach/attitude/mindset, It took me almost 14 years to figure out the real meaning behind those wise words. Being a MAN means progression of understanding, knowledge, acceptance & virtue while developing better habits.

There’s a reason I never buy clothes from H&M, Zara, TK Maxx or any store/brand with 50% discount board. I buy clothes which cost at least a hundred quid or more, and i wear them for ages. They stay with me because, I know I have spent enough money to buy them. And i fully remember how much I paid, I have a photographic memory. Fun part is, I still have t-shirts, jackets, hoodies & sneakers from my 8th grade & engineering college days which fit perfectly even today. FYI, I am a sneakerhead & my love for watches is something divine.)
